In a turn of events that many did not foresee coming, Sony is reversing its decision over a planned shutdown of the PlayStation Store service on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. However, the plan for the same on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) is still a go.
In an official blog post by Sony, the company announced the choice to overturn its initial plan, following reconsiderations involving the two platforms’ existing player base—a picture that the Japanese company initially overlooked until after ruffling their feathers with the proclamation. The changing decision is also likely greatly influenced by the community’s uproar over the issue.

As per the announcement, the company also disclosed the reason for coming up with the initial option to shut the PlayStation Store’s servers on its prized platforms, citing commercial viability of continued operations and resource prioritization and allocation as the pressing reasons.
