The enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) kept many of us at home with only the Internet for refuge.
Many found new ways to entertain themselves, while others found new love for existing services.
Sensor Tower, a market intelligence company that studies data and provides insights about the global app economy, recently released a report showing how much money apps in the month of June 2020.
Its top ten are mostly entertainment apps, such as those for video streaming, live streaming, etc.
To no one’s surprise, the top grossing non-game app worldwide for June 2020 was TikTok. The app raked in USD 90.7 million in user spending. According to the the report, around 89 percent of its revenue came from China with just 6 percent from the United States.
At the start of the year, TikTok was already a high grosser at the tenth spot. It started growing, claiming the top spot last April. Their revenue grew as much as 8.3x from May to June.

Tinder was at three. I assumed that many were lonely during this time. Looking to the app for possible online friendship and companionship.
Netflix and Disney+ was sixth and seventh, respectively. The latter was more surprising, considering its limited release.
Other apps include Bigo Live (another live streaming app) and online manga apps LINE Manga and Piccoma.
It remains to be seen how some of the apps will fare as the months progress. But one thing’s for sure, the longer we stay at home, the more time we’ll spend on these apps.
