US customs proudly brags seized counterfeit AirPods, turns out to be OnePlus Buds - Android

Anyway, what we’re talking about here is the seized “counterfeit” products that the United States Customs and Boarder Protection have been bragging about on its Twitter account.

It appears that the CBP has confiscated 2,000 counterfeit Apple AirPods at the JFK Airport in New York that came from Hong Kong. They claim it would have cost USD398,000 if they were genuine.

The funny part is, as seen from CBP’s own photos, the confiscated items are legitimate and authentic OnePlus Buds TWS earphones. It’s not clear if all of those 2,000 earphones are of the same model and brand, but product shipments usually come in batches from the same brand, so it’s safe to assume that all 2,000 of them are OnePlus Buds.

Sure, the OnePlus Buds looks a lot like the Apple AirPods, but so as tons of TWS earphones in the market today. Also, the box itself displays a different brand, product name, and features than the AirPods to consider it a knockoff.
