Globe Telecom just made an announcement regarding unused data for its prepaid and postpaid subscribers.

While the Roll-Over Internet Act is yet to pass as a law, Globe Telecom has introduced an alternative. The company announced that its prepaid and postpaid customers’ unused data could convert to GCash credit or rewards points.

The GB to Points feature can allow prepaid and postpaid subscribers to convert their unused data into rewards points, which they can use to redeem other products — said Issa Cabreira, Globe Deputy Chief Commercial Officer.

Cabreira added that rewards points are “as good as cash” as unused data can also be converted into Gcash.

The executive said that if you can’t fully utilize the money you spent on the data, you can allocate it to other things, so none of your money goes to waste.

Users can convert their unused data through the Globe One app or Globe Rewards app.

So, what are the conversion rates are? In an example given, a prepaid user can convert 1GB of data to 1 reward point; 1GB = 10 rewards points for postpaid users; 3GB = 3 rewards points for home prepaid WiFi users.

These points can be used on other services like GrabFood deliveries, Lazada credits, gaming coins, Viu subsription, and more.
