As you know, Realme’s offering has a flagship-level processor. But that doesn’t mean the Vivo X50 is a lousy competitor.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme X3 SuperZoom is a decent-looking device. But personally, we gotta hand the design award to the Vivo X50. We’ve held both devices personally and we fell in love with the X50’s sleek, thin, and lightweight design. It’s just more comfortable and premium in the hands.

Since it uses an AMOLED screen, the X50 also has thinner bezels. The sides and corners are curvier too which, again, improves the ergonomics.

The camera placement and frosted glass on the back also favors to the Vivo X50.

But to Realme’s credit, the X3 SuperZoom do have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection in front and back. The X50 is also sandwiched in glass, but no word what type of glass used.

Display and Audio

The Vivo X50 and Realme X3 SuperZoom are clearly made for two different people, and it’s presented in their displays.

If you’re about looks and style, go with the Vivo X50. It has a colorful and contrasty AMOLED panel with HDR10+, perfect for watching movies or videos. It also allowed the device to have a more advanced in-display fingerprint scanner instead of a side-mounted one that the X3 has.

But if speed is important, the Realme X3 SuperZoom has a 120Hz screen — much smoother than the 90Hz refresh rate of the former.

Both models also lack headphone jacks, but should come with a Type-C adapter in the box.

Performance and Hardware

Here’s a clear and obvious win for the Realme X3 SuperZoom. It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus octa-core processor. It may be a last-gen flagship processor, but it’s still way more powerful than the Snapdragon 730 of the Vivo X50.

It also has 12GB of RAM, 4GB more than the X50. Plus, a faster and twice the storage capacity at 256GB, which is important since neither have microSD card slots for storage expansion.

All that, partnered with a 120Hz screen, makes the Realme X3 SuperZoom dominate in terms of speed and performance.

Cameras

As the name suggests, one of the main highlights of the Realme X3 SuperZoom is its periscope-style telephoto lens, making it one of the cheapest smartphones to have one. It essentially lets you take really faraway images, but in the poorest image quality.

The X3 Super Zoom also has a secondary ultra-wide selfie camera for taking pictures with friends. These are nice features to have, but edging into novelty.

So, if you don’t care much about these features, and you just want a single camera that takes profesional-looking images, then you might be better off with the Vivo X50.

It sports a 48-megapixel main camera with a bright f1/6 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). This should help you take brighter, sharper, and steadier images even at night.

The X50 may lack a periscope lens, but it does have the traditional 13-megapixel portrait lens. It allows for 2x of optical zoom, which takes better images of people.

Battery

Both the Vivo X50 and Realme X3 SuperZoom have similar 4,200mAh batteries. But since the X50 has a slower refresh rate screen and processor, we should get better longevity out of it.

The Vivo device also has a slightly faster 33W fast charging, versus the 30W on the latter. Sadly, neither have wireless charging capabilities.

The Vivo X50 is a sleek smartphone that’s really comfortable and premium to hold for days. It also has a vibrant screen, UD fingerprint scanner, and a pro-friendly main camera.

Albeit, its price-to-performance ratio is just hard to justify – something the Realme X3 SuperZoom shines.
