The affordable phone Vivo Z5x, which is praised for its impressive cameras, large battery capacity and neat design, is being re-released in China with a slightly more powerful CPU.
The first official release of the Vivo Z5x was in May 2019. At the time, it was the company’s first smartphone to use a punch-hole design for its selfie camera. It also came equipped with the octa-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. Fast forward a year later, the new variant that’s being marketed as Vivo Z5x 2020 is replacing the 710 with the newer Snapdragon 712.
With the updated CPU, the Vivo Z5x 2020 has a clocking frequency of 2.3GHz, up 100Mhz from 2.2GHz. Both Snapdragon 710 and 712 uses the same graphics chip, the Adreno 616 GPU.
The remaining specs of the Vivo Z5x remain unchanged: a 6.53-inch FHD+ display, up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and a 5000mAh battery with 18W wired charging. FunTouch OS 9 UI, an Android fork based on Android 9 Pie, is also retained as the pre-installed OS.
