Announced two years ago as a project that brings the Android operating system to a full-on digital camera, the Zeiss ZX1 is finally about to go in retail soon.
US retailer, B&H Photo has already launched an email campaign to spread the word about the product’s upcoming release and is said to come at a price tag of $6,000, according to a report by DPReview.
Without yet a hands-on impression over the product, many are still oblivious as to whether the ZX1 justifies its rather hefty price tag. Which, considering the latest smartphones of today, costs way more than the usual premium smartphones, even the ones from Apple.
For what it’s worth, though, the Zeiss ZX1 features a 37-megapixel full-frame sensor, an electronic viewfinder, a fixed 35mm f/2 lens, and three dials for control over the ISO, shutterspeed, and aperture.
Providing users the needed display is a 4.3-inch touchscreen that runs on a custom version of Android and comes pre-installed with Adobe Lightroom for quick photo edits.
