Summary of changes/improvements of the realme 7 Pro:
• Super AMOLED display
• B&W sensor on the quad rear camera
• Larger available minimum configuration
• 1080p slo-mo video recording at 120fps
• In-display fingerprint scanner
• Latest Bluetooth technology
• Better speaker system
• Slightly larger battery and better wired fast charging
Although the realme 6 Pro has a slightly bigger screen at 6.6-inch with a 90Hz refresh rate, the realme 7 Pro comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with an 80Hz touch sampling rate and TUV Rheinland certification. The former has a pill-shaped cutout and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the latter has a punch hole and gets an unknown Corning Gorilla Glass. Both have FHD+ displays.
Both the realme 7 Pro and the realme 6 Pro sport quad rear cameras. However, the latter replaces its predecessor’s 12MP telephoto lenses with a B&W sensor with an unspecified resolution. realme also didn’t disclose the megapixel count for its macro sensor. The smartphones also have different orientation for its rear camera modules, showcasing a slimmer vertical design for the realme 6 Pro while the realme 7 Pro bears a rectangular one. Although both have the same 64MP main cameras, the realme 6 Pro has the Samsung GW1 sensor while the realme 7 Pro has the Sony IMX682.
For the memory, the realme 7 Pro comes with a larger minimum configuration at 6GB RAM + 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. On the other hand, the realme 6 Pro comes in either 64GB or 128GB UFS 2.1 storage mated to 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Both local models, however, are available in 8GB + 128GB variants.
The realme 7 Pro and realme 6 Pro are capable of recording 4K video at 30fps and UIS video stabilization. Compared to the latter, the former can capture slo-mo video at 1080p with a frame rate of up to 120fps.
The Pro versions of the realme 6 and 7 series have fingerprint scanners as part of its biometrics. However, the former is side-mounted while the latter is integrated into its display. The realme 7 Pro also has the latest version of Bluetooth technology at 5.1 while the realme 6 Pro has the older 5.0.
Apart from having a 3.5mm audio jack, both smartphones boast Hi-Res Audio w/ Dolby Atmos. Still, the realme 7 Pro wins with its dual stereo speakers as to realme 6 Pro’s super linear speakers.
Lastly, the realme 7 Pro comes with a slightly bigger battery rated at 4,500mAh. This is 200mAh more than the realme 6 Pro at 4,300mAh. The former also has a faster wired charging at 65W than the latter at 30W.
Should you upgrade?
If you’re looking for a mid-range smartphone with an FHD+ AMOLED display, in-display fingerprint scanner, louder speakers, faster wired charging, and slow-motion video recording, then the realme 7 Pro is for you. However, you’ll need to sacrifice having a 90Hz refresh rate, a 12MP telephoto, and 2MP macro sensors on its rear camera module and dual front cameras. If you don’t mind the said factors, then you might need to wait a little longer for its availability. The realme 7 Pro is scheduled to launch on September 30. Meanwhile, its predecessor, the realme 6 Pro, is currently available for PHP 16,990.
