The phone looks promising for a budget device.

TL;DR: Here’s our unboxing and initial review article on the vivo Y20s.
vivo Philippines is bringing the vivo Y20s (G) to the country. The phone looks quite promising for a budget phone with a large 6.51-inch display, an efficient Helio G80 chip, and triple cameras.
The local office sent us a test unit for evaluation. While the full review is shaping up, let’s take a quick look at the phone while we share our unboxing and initial impressions.
The vivo Y20s (G) comes in a simpler retail box compared to its more expensive siblings with a white/blue color combination with mostly text and no image of the phone.
Inside, you have the vivo Y20s (G) unit, a charger, a micro USB cable, the SIM eject tool, a case, and the usual documentation. It also comes with a pre-installed screen protector, which is always a welcome addition.
In the box
The first thing I noticed with the vivo Y20s (G) is its design. The phone is a beautiful device. Our review unit has the Purist Blue colorway, and it looks really good, almost like staring into the sky.
The phone has a plastic build, though, but it has a smooth matte surface that has a soft touch.
At the front, we have the large 6.51-inch display with a 1600 x 720 HD+ resolution. There’s a regular-sized dewdrop notch that houses an 8MP selfie camera.
Turn the phone over and we have the triple rear camera setup with a 13MP main, a 2MP depth, and a 2MP Super Macro lens. It has a noticeable hump but only extends a bit from the back.

The right-hand side has the volume rocker and the power key/fingerprint scanner. On the left, you have the SIM tray with triple slots for two nano SIM cards and one micro SD card. And at the bottom, we have the 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, a micro-USB port, and the mono speaker.
Looking at the phone’s internal specs, we have quite an impressive set. The vivo Y20s (G) is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It has a dual-band Wi-Fi AC, Bluetooth 5, and GPS.
Battery capacity is 5000mAh. It should be more than enough to power through a day. vivo added support for 18-watts fast charging, which should lessen wait times during charging.
The vivo Y20s (G) is on track to become another popular budget phone from vivo Philippines. The Helio G80 is more than enough to power through most activities as well as running light games, while the large storage space and equally large battery life should be more than enough for daily use.
As with all midrange and budget phones released in the Philippines, its price will be a major factor in how we will evaluate the phone. Unfortunately, we have no clue how much it will cost here. We’ll find that one out when it launches locally.
That’s it for our unboxing and initial impressions. Stay tuned for our full review.
