Buses that roam the roads of EDSA is going full cashless mode as it sees to implement a “no Beep card, no ride” policy beginning October 1, 2020.
The cashless transaction is aimed at not just expediting the payment transactions with the commuters, the initiative also seeks to mitigate the spread of infection amid fear of the still going global health issue.
In light of the imminent rollout of the digital payment system, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is urging the public to purchase a Beep Card and subsequently load it up soon.
Currently, Beep Cards allow payment transactions in the following areas: LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, P2P buses, EDSA buses, and modern jeepneys.
Easing the transition to the public, as many as 44 stations of LRT1, LRT2, and MRT3 are offering Beep Cards via their teller booths. Alternatively, Beep Cards can also be purchased at Ticket Vending Machines, Family Mart convenience stores, or any bus partners.
