Google is delaying its plan to add a call duration limit to free users of its video-communication service Meet. 

A few days ago, the search giant previously set September 30 as the last day that Google Meet users under the free package could enjoy unlimited call sessions (although it’s actually up to 24 hours).

In a change of heart, Google will let users with Gmail accounts enjoy these unlimited sessions until March 31, 2021. Oddly, the free tier in Google Meet’s pricing page still shows September 30 as the expiration.

According to Google Meet’s group product manager Samir Pradhan via a blog post, their decision to move the expiration is a sign of their commitment in helping users who rely on the service in the coming months. Apps with video chat and call features have seen increased downloads and usage during the pandemic as users adapted to working from home and online learning.
