I've been reading tech news shared on social media over the past two days and I noticed that several rumors about the 2021 flagship Android smartphone line of Samsung are already starting to surface.
As we all know by now, the Korean Giant announces its Galaxy S-Series models in January - to start every new year right - so it makes sense for self-proclaimed insiders to begin sharing details about the company's 2021 top-of-the-line handsets. I mean, it's November and these devices are most likely already in production anyway.
Aside from the more powerful processor and the enhanced low-light capabilities of the multi-camera set-up at the back, perhaps the most interesting "leaked" or "unconfirmed" information about the most expensive S-Series variant for next year, which fans are already calling the 2021 Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, would have to be its S-Pen Stylus.
Yeah, you heard that right! According to some insiders, Samsung will be bringing the S-Pen stylus - which was formerly exclusive to the Galaxy Note phablet line - to the Galaxy S Series!
The S-Pen Stylus was one of the main selling points of the Samsung Galaxy Note Series.
While this leaked information may sound rather unbelievable and outrageous to most of you, I think it already makes a lot of sense at this point.
In 2019, the Korean Giant launched the Galaxy Fold - the world's first smartphone with a bendable screen - and positioned it at the ultra-premium level for meticulous taste-makers who want to be at the forefront of innovation. These are the Samsung fans who used to own a Galaxy Note smartphone.
As a long-time Galaxy Note user, I am personally starting to consider the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 as the natural upgrade to my device -- and that's only because I think Samsung has already perfected the Note line and I'm now yearning for features which I could only find in a device in higher echelon.
Personally, I think I have outgrown the Galaxy Note series so I'm now good with seeing its key features - including the S-Pen stylus - integrated in other high-end models of the company. I mean, it's been a decade since the company launched the first Galaxy Note so I no longer feel that the S-Pen Stylus should be exclusive to this line. If Samsung is indeed keen on bringing to the Galaxy S-Series, I'd say that it's high time for them to do that.
However, I do wish that the next iteration to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 would likewise come with an S-Pen since it's the perfect complement the device's large display for note-taking in classes or meetings. If Samsung can improve the next Fold with that added feature, then I'd perfectly understand if they would fold the current Note line altogether since its continued existence will just complicate the product catalogue.
Speaking of product catalogue, since Samsung now tends to release three Galaxy S-Series models at the same time, I think the most expensive variant has to have stronger come-on features compared to the others. I'd say aside from a larger screen and more cameras, the S-Pen Stylus could really make it more enticing compared to the others, even against strong competitors from other brands like the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Anyway. I'm saying all these not because I no longer love the Samsung Galaxy Note Series. In fact, I still do and I will always be a fan of the Note phablet; Heck, I've owned so many units through the years. I guess, where we stand currently, I'm already comfortable with the idea of seeing just "the essence of the Galaxy Note line" in future devices made by the company.
That's just my opinion. Feel free to agree or to disagree with me. I listen to all opinions. Let me know your thoughts. Do you think it's time for Samsung to fold the Galaxy Note line and bring its features to the S-Series and future Galaxy Fold models? Should Samsung hold on the Note?
