Most displays of any Gundam figure have been static ones, to date. Those that do walk around are likely cosplays which are costumes worn by avid individuals who are not too shy about displaying their fandom.
But all these notions is seem to change as a team of Japanese engineers are set to put their prowess to the test by building a gargantuan Gundam figure that’s actually capable of movement, not just stand around for display.
Currently in development at the Gundam Factory Yokohama, the Gundam unit as demonstrated in a video, shows the 25-ton figure and its potential for a range of movements. Although the shown footage is not much, it does leave an impression of eventually becoming mobile, based on its ability to pivot certain parts.
Very much nearing completion, the massive and supposedly mobile Gundam figure is set to make its debut on October 2020.
