Just a few days after unveiling the Apex Legends Mobile beta test in the Philippines, game publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that one more of its popular franchises is coming to mobile. With a complete experience that aims to bring an “all-out warfare to smartphones and tablets,” a Battlefield mobile game is slated for 2022.

The upcoming mobile Battlefield is made to be standalone, a completely different game whose design specifically takes the mobile platform into account. It’s confirmed to be a fully-fledged, skill-based game. Hopefully, it will have the distinguishing features that make Battlefield they are: destructible buildings, maps with a high player count limit, and a variety of vehicles.

It is being developed by Industrial Toys (which EA acquired in 2018) along with developer DICE, the primary studio behind the PC and console games. Since the game has already been prototyped for years, DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson says that Battlefield is ready to go mobile. It’s expected to be released sometime in the fiscal year 2022 (April 2021 to March 2022).

Not to be confused with the mobile version, EA has also announced another Battlefield game for console and PC, slated for late 2021. It’s currently undergoing daily playtests and balancing.
