The City of Manila, in partnership with Globe Business, will offer BatangMaynilaSurf data plans to public school students for distance learning.
Specially curated for students, the BatangMaynilaSurf is a custom-built plan which allows students to access school-related websites and applications. Pre-activated upon distribution, its monthly data allocation refreshes through its Load Up platform. The data plans will be equipped on Globe SIM cards that will be given to qualified public students of Manila City.
As the country continues to fight with coronavirus pandemic, academic institutions will be implementing a mix of face-to-face and online classes for this school year. Lessons can be delivered using various channels and learning modules both in print and digital form.
According to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, the city will distribute 110,000 tablets equipped with Globe SIM cards and 11,000 laptops paired with Globe pocket WiFis as preparation for blended learning set by the Department of Education.
“We hope that through this initiative and with Globe’s relentless service, more public school students and teachers can maximize digital tools to create conducive and safe learning environments,” shared Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Globe previously has given 11,000 units of LTE mobile pocket WiFi to public school teachers.
The telco continues to work with various LGUs to build cell sites across the country. These towers, which are responsible for amplifying communication signals, enable individuals and businesses to gain better connectivity.
