Doogee is making an entry into the rugged smartphone space with the Doogee S88 Pro, which takes on an Iron Man-esque aesthetics, powered by a massive 10,000 mAh battery capacity in a body that is designed to withstand all hazards to a degree.
The phone sports a 6.3-inche display, shielded by Gorilla Glass. At the hood, it’s powered by MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, a 12 nanometer, quad-core CPU, as well as a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It’s also paired with a 6GB of RAM and a 128GB storage which can be expanded via a micro-SD card slot.
Giving an impression of an Iron Man helmet looking at you is the rear template around the 3-camera layout. The “eyes” at the back of the panel are capable of emitting luminescent LED lights. The triple camera layout does not offer much to write home about, aside from the idea that the main camera is capable of 21-megapixel shots and 4K video at 30 FPS.
At the side are three programmable buttons that functions differently depending on the type of presses (single, double, or long).
One of the major highlights of the product, however, is its staggeringly big battery capacity at 10,000 mAh. This battery can provide needed juice to the S88 Pro for a month at standby, 19 hours straight of 3D gaming, and can typically last at least a week in between full charges. The phone can charge at a rate of 10W, if done wirelessly.
Given its surplus of energy, the S88 Pro can also act as a power bank, capable of providing 5W of reverse wireless charging.
Proving that it’s design for durability is not merely superficial, the device is capable of withstanding many hazards, at a certain extent.
After a series of test where the device was dropped a thousand times, the S88 Pro is established to manage a drop from a height of 1.5m and 2m on a rough surface and smooth surface, respectively.
Not only is the device durable enough to sustain accidental falls, it is also water-tight in its design, too, preventing water from getting in its internal hardware. As per tests, the S88 Pro can survive in an underwater setting for 2 hours and a day at 1.5m and 1m height, respectively.
In places where there is snow or sub-freezing temperature, the S88 Pro can survive in these conditions, too. Tests showed that it can maintain a 4-hour running life at -55 degrees Celsius.
That is not to forget that it’s also capable of enduring certain acidic elements, too. But not the extreme kind that melts steel, of course. All these draw from the device’s stringent IP69K-compliant blueprint.
Interested buyers can choose to pre-order the Doogee S88 Pro at either the Doogee Mall or Alixpress. Eager buyers are encouraged to make the purchase now for the launch price of only $200 (~Php10,000) before it shifts to its normal price of $250 (~Php12,500) sometime after launch. Shipping starts on June 21, 2020.
