Facebook is starting the early part of the year with a change to the social media as it revamps the Facebook Pages in an attempt to simplify how creators and public figures “build community and achieve their business objectives.”
In an official announcement, Facebook highlights a number of significant alterations with the social media feature, one most notable of which is the removal of the “Likes” button in favor of “Followers.”
The company claims that Followers make for a better representation of public figures’ fan base rather than those who simply like the page.

Part also of the modification involves a heavier emphasis on the News Feed, which gives followers easy access to conversations and the followed personality having better engagement with fans.
Facebook left a statement with the proclamation, suggesting that future changes are to take place for Facebook Pages in the coming months.
