It is the year 2021 and we still have to remain within the safety of our homes. A year ago we proposed games to play if you missed the great outdoors; now, we offer an updated list of games to play that simulate the great outdoors that may cater to your preferences. Check it out!
First up, we have a popular survival game entitled Valheim. Developed by Iron Gate Studio, Valheim takes place in a world where Vikings have to prove themselves for their place in Valhalla. In this Co-op/PVP game, Players are left with their wit and imagination as they build, survive, and fight in the realm of Valheim.
Get Valheim here: PC (Steam)
Next, we have Divinity 2: Original Sin. This role-playing, story-driven game is perfect for those who enjoy the great outdoors—monster and undead riddled outdoors. Survive as your character reaches divinity to fight off the impending void.
Get Divinity 2: Original Sin here: PC (Steam), PS4, Nintendo Switch
If you enjoy the tropical sun and an endless horizon of the ocean, then Raft is the game for you. Embark on a journey in search of civilization, where players have to survive on a raft and gather materials from one remote island to another, improving chances of survival. Do note that your companion in this journey is a shark that tirelessly follows you.
Get Raft here: PC (Steam), Android
For the King is also something to look out for. The format for this game is a turn-based survival board game, that allows the player to navigate however they wish on both dry land and sea—not to forget the inclusion of dungeon crawling as well.
Get For the King here: PC (Steam), PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
I know this may be a questionable pick, but when we are talking about ambiance this game still has something to offer. From the old medieval theme of Witcher 3, CD Projekt red displaces gamers into the future full of tech, narratives, and mayhem. Aside from the main questline, hours can still be enjoyed outside through side quests and sub-missions. If nature isn’t quite cutting it for you, Night city will be there to greet you—or glitch out on you.
Get Cyberpunk 2077 here: PC (Steam), PS4/PS5, Xbox One
Last but not the least, Microsoft’s Flight Simulator swoops in the list. If you are restricted at home and truly miss certain places or countries, you can hop in your plane and fly over there. This game is online, allowing the player to see other players occupy airspace; there are also mods that allow cross-communication between pilots.
Get Microsoft Flight Simulator here: PC (Steam)
That wraps up this list of games you can play if find yourself wanting a change of venue—at least virtually. Playing these games certainly won’t come remotely close to the real thing, but trust me, it can evoke similar emotions. If you have any more suggestions, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.
Stay home, stay safe, and game on!
