With Globe Telecom seeking to transition from 4G to 5G, the company is taking a step to expedite the process by offering upgrades to its users.
In a form of an SMS, Globe is informing its subscribers of the free upgrade which states:
“You’re a step closer to experiencing Globe’s leveled up 5G network! We’ve made your current Prepaid SIM 5G-ready.”

While many might be more than ecstatic in making a jump to the most advanced mobile internet to date, it’s worth mentioning that the upgrade requires a 5G-capable device.
As of writing, the telecommunications company’s 5G coverage includes the areas of Rockwell Center, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Gen. Malvar in Ortigas, and Valero Street in Makati.
Initially announced exclusively for its Platinum subscribers earlier this year, Globe subsequently introduced 5G-ready smartphones, including the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, Huawei Nova 7 SE, Huawei P40 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
