Google confirms Pixel 5 flagship phone - Android

The Pixel 5, which will eventually be launched as the flagship offering from Google, will feature much more impressive specs and hardware, while the Pixel 4a 5G will just be a variant for 5G.

Apart from the 5G support, no much information was released by Google. The form of a promo image of the Pixel 5 together with the 4a 5G is the only real information shared by the company.

The Pixel 5 will have a black, glittery design with a similar-looking camera array just like the Pixel 4a 5G. Since the Pixel 4a has a single-lens set-up, the 5G flagship variant is expected to have more.

Although no official word yet, it’s quite clear that the Pixel 5 will run with Android 11 out of the box. Past reports also showed that it could be powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset. This mid-range chipset is the same found on the recently released OnePlus Nord, but we are not expecting it to have a similar retail price.

The display of the Pixel 5 is expected to be faster than last year’s Pixel 4 that came with a 90Hz refresh rate. There will also be some form of water-resistant and wireless charging support.

The price of the Pixel 5 was not revealed by Google but as a flagship device, it is expected to be more expensive than the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4a 5G, which was announced at USD349 (around Php17,200) and USD499 (around Php24,500), respectively.

According to Google’s blog post, the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 will be available in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, and in the US. This is just the initial list, other countries like the Philippines. might be included later on.
