Apple always announces its latest iOS mobile platform months before a stable release hits iPhones across the globe.
From the initial announcement to the final release, a slew of iOS beta versions are being released for select people to try out. With this, Apple can hear customer feedbacks that will help them iron out the software and clear out any critical bugs.
This process, as we said earlier, can take months. So if you can’t already wait to try out the new operating system, then you might want to be an iOS public beta tester.

Other than helping Apple improve the software, you’re also one of the first to test the upcoming software before the rest of the world.
However, running an iOS beta version comes with a couple of disclaimers. Obviously, it comes with a couple of bugs that may affect battery life, performance, app compatibility, and much more.
So, if you’re okay with that and you wish to push through, here’s a tutorial of how to install iOS public beta software on your iPhone.
For this test, we’ll be checking out the iOS 14 public beta for the iPhone XR.
Step 1: Make sure you’re iPhone can support the new iOS version. You can check the list of iOS 14 compatible devices to make sure.
Step 2: You might want to backup your device via iCloud, Mac, or PC just for safety. If you don’t have important files, you may skip this one.
Step 3: Open the Safari browser on your phone > go to the Apple Beta Page > click ‘Sign Up’ > key in your Apple ID. Key in the one-time password if asked, and click accept to any user agreement notice that pops up.
Step 4: Once in, tap the drop-down menu on the top right then tap. ‘Enroll Your Devices’.
Step 5: Scroll down until you reach the ‘Install Profile’ section. Click ‘Download profile’. Your device will notify you once the download finishes.
Step 6: Once done, go to your iPhone’s Settings. Tap the ‘Profile Downloaded’ > tap ‘Install’ on the top right corner > key in your passcode > click ‘Install’ on the consent page > Click ‘Done’.

Step 7: Go back to the Settings main page > Scroll down till you reach ‘General’ > Tap ‘Software Update’.
Here you can now download the iOS beta version like how you’d normally update your iPhone. Simply tap ‘Download and Install’, key in your passcode, and wait for the software to finish downloading and installing.
A new version of the beta version will arrive from time to time, which comes with improvements and bug fixes. It will keep on coming once the final release arrives, which is expected to be on September, as the new iPhones comes out.
