There is a rumor going on that Huawei and its sub-brand, Honor, are eyeing a new venture that is targeted towards gamers.

If the report is to be believed, it seems that consumers will start seeing gaming laptops from both brands starting as early as this month or August this year.

However, it appears that the buzz holds water as it can be recalled how Honor president, George Zhao, was quoted for promising a gamer-centric notebook to consumers by the end of 2020.

Branding-wise, it is not disclosed whether the product will fall on either of the two companies’ already established brand, such as the MateBook for Huawei or the MagicBook for Honor.

However, it is also not a stray from reality if the gaming laptop would be under a new brand logo altogether.

If history is going to repeat itself, it seems likely that Honor will get to launch its product first, similar to the case when they previously released some television products.

The venture towards gaming laptops apparently has its roots in profitability, particularly on the PC market, based on the sales data from the Asia-Pacific region in 2019.
