Obviously, the main improvement on the Huawei MatePad 5G is its next-gen wireless connectivity. To achieve this, Huawei swapped the Kirin 810 processor of the former model to a more powerful Kirin 820 chipset.
That’s the same processor found on the Nova 7 SE 5G. It brings 5G modem on the MatePad, as well as the new WiFi 6 standard. It also has a more powerful CPU, which now comes with four Cortex-A76 performance cores; and a Mali-G57 MP6 GPU, which is 30% faster than the G52 MP6 of the former. It’s then bundled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
The rest of the specs are pretty much the same. We have a large 10.4-inch IPS screen on the front, with an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the top sitting in the bezel like what they used to.
We then have an 8-megapixel primary camera on the back, and two speakers on each side that make up for its quad-loudspeaker setup, alongside the four microphones for clear and noise-free voice and video calls.
It then has a decent 7,250mAh battery with an upgraded 22.5W fast charging. It’s also compatible with Huawei’s keyboard cover case and M-Pencil Stylus.
The Huawei MatePad 5G has an official price of CNY3,199 (around Php22,900) and is now available for pre-order through the VMall website in China. It’s not clear if it will make its way to the Philippines. In the meantime, you can check out the MatePad 4G that’s available locally for Php20,990.
