Huawei’s top midrange line gets a refresh with the new Huawei Nova 8 and Nova 8 Pro.
The Huawei Nova 8 Pro comes with a 6.72-inch FHD+ screen, with support for a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra-smooth 300Hz touch sampling. It also has 10-bit color, DCI-P3, and has the fingerprint scanner baked in the curved screen.
It also has a pill-shaped punch-hole on the top for the dual selfie cameras. While on the back, we have a distinctly large camera glass that houses the 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, 2-megapixel macro, and 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Pro model also enjoys a large 4,000mAh battery as it shares the same 66W SuperCharge technology as the vanilla model — the same speeds we saw on the latest Mate 40 series flagship.
It’s then powered by a Kirin 985 processor, a 5G-equipped chipset that also powers the Nova 7 and Honor V30.
On the other hand, the Huawei Nova 8 has a smaller and relatively slower 6.57-inch FHD+ screen with a 90hz refresh rate. The notch is smaller as it only has a single selfie camera.
The cameras on the back are the same, but the main shooter only has an f/1.9 aperture instead of f/1.8. The non-Pro model also has a smaller 3,800mAh battery.
The Huawei Nova 8 has a price of CNY3,299 (around Php24,200) for the 8GB/128GB while the 8GB/256GB is at CNY3,699 (aroundPhp27,200).
On the other hand, the Nova 8 Pro starts at CNY3,999 (around Php29,400) for the 8GB/128GB, while the 8GB/256GB is at CNY4,399 (around Php32,300). Both models will be available in China on December 30, while their international release is yet to be announced.
