In celebration of Tencent’s Platform and Content Group’s (PCG) second-year anniversary foundation, Huawei has given away 10,000 units of Huawei Mate Xs to its lucky employees.
The Huawei Mate Xs is a refreshed version of the original Huawei Mate X, which sold at a pricey $2,700, subsequently making the giant Chinese company effectively spending away $2.7 million for the generous gift.
While the devices are, by themselves, costly at best, the Mate Xs is unfortunately one of Huawei’s devices that are technically banned from being part of the Android ecosystem.
Despite the product’s seemingly “paper weight” status, the lucky recipients take opportunity with the gift by turning on e-Commerce sites to sell their devices at 2.5 times the original price.
Rather surprisingly, Huawei still launches the similar product to the marketplace, albeit at a limited supply.
