Huawei’s supplier woes continue as their Chinese chipmaker partners are rumored to be abandoning them in fears to get mixed up with the trade ban and be pressured by the US government.
This may result in a possible chip shortage, which will limit the production of Kirin-powered Huawei smartphones. And as the supply becomes limited, the prices will inevitably rise.
Reports suggest that the phone sellers in Huaqiangbei, the world’s biggest electronics market that’s located in the south of Shenzhen, have increased the prices of new and second-hand Huawei phones. The price hike averages at around CNY400 (around Php2,900) to CNY500 (around Php3,600).
For one, the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 30 RS, which had a price of CNY10,000 (around Php71,600) earlier this year, is now available for CNY14,000 (around Php102,00).
This goes to show that the Chinese market is still patronizing the brand despite all its struggles.
