Our much-awaited Lenovo Legion Pro or the internationally, the Legion Phone Duel is now official. The phone surely did not disappoint as it comes with specifications we all wanted in a gaming smartphone. However, there’s also a caveat as you indeed have some compromises.
To start, it comes with a flagship Snapdragon 865 Plus processor, a 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and a 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It also has 5G connectivity and a design layout made specifically for gaming. The device also has two nano-SIM slots that both support 5G and LTE.
As expected, the Lenovo Phone Duel is more of a gaming console, not a smartphone. The hardware’s design is quite specific to a landscape setup. This is best shown by the unconventional selfie camera setup on the side. The 20-megapixel front camera elevates from the side unlike the usual placement on the upper part.
Aside from that, the smartphone will have an uninterrupted fullscreen display by avoiding a notch or a punch hole. Speaking of screens, the device features a large 6.59-inch 1080p AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.
Interestingly, even the rear cameras are in the middle so that these won’t you won’t cover it while holding the device in landscape mode. The dual-camera setup is rather a compromise since premium smartphones have three cameras at the very least. Furthermore, its main sensor is 64-megapixels with f/1.89 aperture. Meanwhile, the other camera is a 16-megapixel wide-angle lens which can cover up 120 degrees.
Unsurprisingly, the video recording of the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel is far from impressive. The rear can only take 4K videos at 30 frames per second.
Another notable feature of this gaming smartphone is the dual-USB-Charging ports on the side that allow you to charge the device while you’re still playing. The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel comes with two battery cells with a total of 5,000mAh battery. There’s also a 90W fast charging. The brand says that it can bring the phone to full charge in only 30 minutes.
It also uses comes with powerful speakers all because of the Dirac Audio stereo and an advanced microphone system with noise reduction.
Lenovo’s take on the software is no different from the hardware. The camera’s software is optimized for gaming. For instance, by activating the selfie cam, you can record yourself through streaming apps like Twitch or Youtube. There are also features such as background removal and touch-ups.
The software also allows you to change the performance setup, download apps, and even select a low-lag network. It also has virtual assistance called Legion Assistance. You may also expect RGB lighting, gyroscope, ultrasonic sensors.
The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel is available in red and blue colors. The 8GB+128GB version retails for a price of CNY 3,499 (~Php 24,700). While the 12GB+128GB model is at CNY 3,899 (~Php27,500) and the top of the line 16GB+512GB storage costs CNY 5,999 (~Php43,000). Note that these are only direct conversion excluding taxes.
It will arrive in some parts of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. No word yet if this includes the Philippines. Stay tuned for more updates.
