The days of Internet Explorer 11 are numbered, as Microsoft has announced in a blog post it will end its support for the ancient browser.
Starting November 30, 2020, the collaboration app Microsoft Teams will no longer support Internet Explorer 11. By August 17 next year, the rest of the Microsoft 365 apps will stop supporting the outdated browser.
If you still keep using IE11 by the time it’s abandoned by Microsoft, you’ll be encountering bugs and security issues that will remain unresolved. Now may be the time to trying new browsers.
Microsoft is encouraging its users to switch to its modern Edge browser, which comes with an Internet Explorer mode in case of compatibility issues.
Note that if you settle with Edge as your main browser, remember to get the Chromium-based version. The old version, known as Microsoft Edge Legacy, will stop receiving new security updates beginning March 9 next year.
