OPPO unveiled a couple of 5G phones in the OPPO Reno 5 5G and the OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G. Launched in China, the new smartphones offer large 90Hz OLED displays and super fast 65W fast charging.
Both handsets come with midrange price tags. The Reno5 5G 8GB + 128GB retails for CNY 2,699 (around ~Php 20,000), while the 12GB + 256GB for CNY 2,999 (~Php 22,100). No news yet if its coming to the Philippines, though.
The Reno5 Pro 5G, on the other hand, comes in at CNY 3,399 (~Php 25,000) for the 8GB + 128GB model, and CNY 3,799 (~Php 28,000) for the 12GB + 256GB model.
With that, let’s take a look at the phones’ specs, starting with the OPPO Reno5 5G. The phone is powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G with a 5G modem, and 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations.
It fronts a 6.43-inch FHS display with an in-display fingerprint scanner, a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, and a responsive 180Hz touch sampling rate.
At the back is a 64MP main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front snapper.
There’s also a 4,500mAh battery with OPPO’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology.
The OPPO Reno5 Pro 5G, on the other hand, offers a flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus chip with 5G, and 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations. It has similar display features, such as an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch sampling rate, but with a larger 6.55-inch OLED panel.

It has a similar set of cameras — 64MP, 8MP, 2MP, and another 2MP at the back, and a 32MP in front.
Despite the large display, it has a smaller 4,350mAh battery, which is odd. But it does have a the 65WSuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging.
