Pokemon Unite, an upcoming MOBA-themed game from the popular franchise, is poised to be a big Esports title.
Introduced back in June, Pokemon Unite has a type of competitive gameplay that Mobile Legends and League of Legends Wild Rift. This is why its developers, Tencent’s TiMi and The Pokemon Company, have expressed their interest in making it an Esports game.
In an interview, the game’s developers said that they are open to the idea of navigating the game in a competitive direction, especially if the players are up for it. But apparently, a couple of esports players have already shown interest in going pro for the game.
Pokemon Unite world championships might happen in the future, in the same format to the Pokken Tournament, the Pokemon fighting game developed by Bandai. This means that the Pokemon Unite tournament will have a double-elimination bracket structure with a best-of-five format.
In the meantime, let’s just wait until the developers finalize the release date of the Pokemon Unite, which will arrive on Android and iOS devices, as well as the Nintendo Switch console. You can check more details here.
