Realme recently launched the realme 6 Pro. Unlike the gaming-focused realme 6, the Pro variant is geared towards photography and content creators with 6 cameras and Ultra Image Stabilization (UIS) video.

Priced at PHP 16,990, the phone offers more value than its price leads on. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Let’s take a closer look at the realme 6 Pro.

Struck by lightning

The realme 6 Pro is easily one of the best-looking smartphones right now. The gorgeous lightning design gives it a premium vibe. I love how the lightning streaks at the center of the Gorilla Glass 5 back, changing shape and shade as light hits it in different angles.

Our Lightning Blue review unit looks gorgeous. You can also opt for the Lightning Orange color for a more unique vibe.

One thing that will definitely stand out is the size of the realme 6 Pro. The phone is chunky, measuring in at 163.8 x 75.8 x 8.9mm with a weight of 195 g. This isn’t a deal breaker, but it’s something to keep in mind.

The realme 6 Pro comes with a large 6.6-inch full HD IPS display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a pill shaped dual selfie camera.

The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and animations look smoother. It’s not as smooth as 120Hz, but its definitely better than the standard 60Hz of most phones.

realme 6 Pro review

Like the realme 6, the 6 Pro has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner / power button. It is fast and conveniently placed.

You also have a single bottom firing speaker, which is loud and audible. But it does get a bit straining at max volumes.

Snapdragon 720G gets the job done

The realme 6 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor with 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, and realme UI based on Android 10. The chip is fast and responsive with no lag at all. The smartphone experience is very satisfying, especially with the 90Hz display.

Gaming on the realme 6 Pro is a great experience as well. As usual, I installed Call of Duty Mobile. The game ran without any noticeable problems. Graphics were set at high with frame rate at very high.

Great cameras for the price

The realme 6 Pro has four rear cameras – a 64MP main, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP monochrome, and a 2MP macro sensor.

Images from the phone look great in good lighting conditions. You get vibrant and punchy colors with a lot of details.

The photos look better, in my opinion, than the realme 6. I’m assuming the Snapdragon 720G is doing a good job at rendering the images.

Here’s a sample of the ultra-wide shot and zoom. Images on the ultra-wide have good color rendition. As for the max zoom, the image of the crane (which you can also spot on the far background of the ultra-zoom shot) is usable despite the loss of quality.

Low light shots are good as well. You do lose a bit of sharpness and noise creeps in, but otherwise, the photos look pleasant.

Selfies look good as well. I like the warm skin tones and above average details.

And for video, the realme 6 Pro can shoot up to 4K at 30FPS. It also has UIS stabilization, that allows for steady videos, even when using the ultra-wide angle camera.

Impressive battery life

The realme 6 Pro has a 4200mAh battery that can last for a whole day with casual use including social media, messaging, and browsing, with a bit of streaming and games at night.

It takes less than an hour to charge the battery to full.

Final thoughts

Priced at PHP 16,990, realme 6 Pro gives you great performance, an immersive 6.6-inch 90Hz display, long battery life, and a premium design. It is one of the best choices in the midrange segment for those who value camera performance, among other things.

The realme 6 Pro is proof that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to get a great smartphone experience.
