Xiaomi has unveiled new versions of the Redmi Note 9 series. They come with updated hardware and design for the Chinese market.
First, we have the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G, which now comes with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G model that enables its 5G connectivity. It also has a faster UFS 2.2 storage.
Another major upgrade is the screen, which now comes with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 230Hz touch sampling. The entire device is sandwiched with Gorilla Glass 5 in front and back. There’s a 4,820mAh battery on the inside, which is partnered with 33W fast charging technology.
Xiaomi also made a drastic improvement in the camera department. The main camera now uses a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM2 sensor. That, and the three other lenses, are now inside a circular camera glass.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has a price of CNY1,599 (around Php11,700) for the 6GB/128GB, CNY1,799 (around Php13,200) for the 8GB/128GB, and CNY1,999 (around Php14,600) for the 8GB/256GB.
We also have the Redmi Note 9 5G, which comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset and faster UFS 2.2 storage. Albeit, the refresh rate is a standard 60Hz. On the upside, the battery is larger at 5,000mAh, but only with 18W fast charging.
The new camera glass is also here, but it only has three sensors instead of four. The LED flash was put inside the circle to complete the 2×2 layout.
Price starts at CNY1,299 (around Php9,500) for the 6GB/128GB, CNY1,499 (around Php10,900) for the 8GB/128GB, while the top-tier Redmi Note 9 5G with 8GB/256GB is at CNY1,699 (around Php12,400).
The standard Redmi Note 9 4G is still here, but now with a Snapdragon 662 instead of Helio G85. On the upside, it kept the fast UFS 2.2 storage that the expensive models have. It also has the largest battery at 6,000mAh with 18W charging.
To set it apart, the camera glass on the back is in a vertical orientation. Still, it has a decent 48-megapixel main and 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooters. You can also notice the large Redmi logo embossed in the back.
The new Redmi Note 9 4G starts at CNY999 (around Php7,300) for the 4GB/128GB, CNY1,099 (around Php8,000) for the 6GB/128GB, and CNY1,299 (around Php9,500) for the top-of-the-line 8GB/128GB model. All three models will be initially available in China. Since we already have the standard Redmi Note 9 series in the Philippines, we may see it as a rebranded device, or not at all.
