Both Xiaomi and Realme equally nailed the designs of their latest releases. The two are being sandwiched with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in front and back that gives that premium look and sturdy feel.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a cleaner paint job on the back, while the Realme 6 Pro features a lightning design for a more flashy look. They also share water-splashes protection and almost the same weight and thickness.
The two also come with punch-hole cameras for a cleaner look. But, the one on the 6 Pro is a bit larger since it houses two front cameras.
This is where the Realme 6 Pro clearly wins. It’s one of the cheapest devices to come with a fast 90Hz refresh rate, which makes the device visually faster and more powerful.
But if size and quality is all that matters, then you’d be glad to know that the Redmi Note 9 Pro share the same 6.6-inch large screen with a sharp a FHD+ pixel resolution. Although they both lack HDR 10 support.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6 Pro use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 octa-core processor with an Adreno 618 GPU.
But since it has a higher price, you’re getting 8GB of RAM on the Realme 6 Pro, while the Redmi Note 9 Pro only has 6GB of memory. There might be a difference in multitasking, but the overall difference in performance should be barely noticeable since they use the same CPU and GPU.
Here, in the camera department, we will see why the Realme 6 Pro costs more than the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
The Realme device comes with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens that can do up to 20x of digital zoom, and 2x of optical zoom that’s great for portraits. There’s also a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide on the front for group shots.
Those extra lenses are missing on the Redmi note 9 Pro. However, it does come with the same 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 16-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Oddly enough, the Realme 6 Pro lacks a 960fps slow-mo recording. This feature could be unlocked via a software update in the future.
This is where the Redmi Note 9 Pro shines. It comes with a much larger 5,020mAh battery, versus the 4,300mAh on the latter. And since it doesn’t have a 90Hz screen, expect an even longer battery life out of this.
On the upside, both devices do have 30W fast charging support. And since it has a smaller battery, charging the Realme 6 Pro will be a lot faster.
Both devices have linear speakers for loud and clear audio. Although, the Realme 6 Pro has Hi-Res audio certification and Dolby Atmos for the audiophiles out there.
The two also utilizes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for a cleaner look. And for software, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6 Pro runs on the latest Android 10 with their own respective interfaces.
Obviously, you can’t go wrong with both devices, since they basically have the same processor that provides identical performance and connectivity features. They also come similar cameras and 30W fast charging.
If budget is the main consideration, you’re better off settling with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro. It’s top-of-the-line 6GB/128GB model is still cheaper than the competition at Php13,990. As a bonus, you’re getting a larger battery along with it.
But if you don’t mind spending Php3,000 more, going with the Realme 6 Pro entitles you to a faster 90Hz screen, 8GB of RAM, an extra ultra-wide front camera, and 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
