Employers can now file for the Social Security System’s Sickness Benefit Reimbursement Application (SBRA) online through SSS’s website as the institution revamps its system to make the otherwise slow and tedious process more convenient to people.

With its implementation, employers can now send an application remotely which significantly offsets the usual hassles with the old method that includes having to wait for a hardcopy of the approved sickness notification and submitting a duly accomplished form to SSS.

Although convenience may be one of the consideration for the improved system, SSS President Aurora C. Ignacio claims that the rollout of the digital transformation has also something to do with the need to mitigate face-to-face interactions among people.

The issue comes in light with the still ongoing pandemic that is popularly believed to br transmitted via close interactions among people and, thereby, can be potentially ameliorated by limiting contact among individuals.

To take advantage of SBRA’s shift towards going full digital, employers are necessitated to have a registered My.SSS account, have a registered bank account in their profile, and must be enrolled in the SSS Sickness and Maternity Benefit Payment Thru-the-Bank Program.

In addition, they must also have a sickness notification approval from SSS and a certification that the reimbursement to employees were already paid in advance.
