People who fear the idea of using public toilets in Tokyo for fear of not knowing what awaits inside should no longer find the notion a concern as some semi-transparent lavatories are getting erected within the city parks.

Designed and built by a prominent Japanese architect, the idea behind the “partly-visible, partly not” restroom is to make the use of public toilets more inviting.

That is, by eradicating the primary concern that some people has about shared lavatories—the not knowing what lies within, in terms of cleanliness and whether or not there’s human presence.

While completely see-through if not being used, part of the overall scheme’s novelty draws from its ability to shift into becoming less as translucent when in employ. A feature that turns an otherwise completely visible area into a blur that gives off a semi-pellucid view from the outside.
