Christmas is just around the corner, and we know that you’re already on the lookout to buy presents for your loved ones, friends, or perhaps, even for yourself! So in this guide, we’ll help you decide which camera to buy whether you’re looking for the latest DSLR, mirrorless camera, point-and-shoot, action cam, or even an instant film camera.

Note: All cameras mentioned in this list were released this year (2020) and are readily available for purchase.

DSLR

Canon EOS-1D X Mark III

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III comes with a 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor capable of shooting 20.1MP, a DIGIC X image processor, a sensitivity range of 100-103,400, and up to 16 fps with the optical viewfinder or 20 fps in live view. It has a 191-point AF system with 155 cross-type points and a Dual Pixel CMOS AF system with 525 areas.

As for videos, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III is capable of 5.5K RAW recording at up to 60 fps, up to DCI 4K recording at 60 fps, and Full HD up to 120 fps. Other features include a weather-sealed body, 3.2” 2.1M-dot touchscreen, optical viewfinder, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, mini-HDMI port, USB Type-C, headphone and mic jacks, and Ethernet.

Mirrorless Cameras

Full-Frame

Sony A7SIII

The Sony A7SIII is equipped with a back-illuminated 12.1MP Exmor R CMOS sensor powered by a BIONZ XR image processor. It can record videos up to 4K at 120 FPS and 10-bit 4:2:2 and new XAVC HS formats. For capturing complex movements, it now features Intra-encoding.

Among its other features include extended ISO up to 409600, a Fast Hybrid autofocus system with Real-Time Eye AF and Tracking, and a new heat-dissipating system to keep the camera cool, 15+ stops dynamic range for shooting movies,  built-in 5-axis image stabilization with Active Mode, and an OLED electronic viewfinder.

Canon EOS R5, EOS R6

The EOS R5 comes with a 45-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, capable of up to 51,200 ISO natively. The EOS R6, on the other hand, comes with a 20MP full-frame sensor, inherited from the flagship EOS-1DX Mark III. It has a mechanical shooter that can capture a continuous shooting speed of 12fps and an expanded ISO up to 204,800.

Both cameras come with a DIGIC X Image Processor, capable of shooting up to 20fps in full resolution, with AF and AE tracking, and compatible with Canon EF and EF-S lenses EF-EOS R mount adapter.

APS-C sensor

Fujifilm X-S10

The Fujifilm X-S10 sports a compact mirrorless camera body equipped with 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 APS-C sensor. It has high-speed image processing made possible by the X-Processor 4, 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilization, and 4K video recording at 30 fps. It can also shoot FHD videos up to 240fps. It is equipped with a large grip for hand-held stability and a rear LCD monitor with a different angle structure. Compact and lightweight, the Fujifilm X-s10 has dimensions of 125 x 85.1 x 64.4mm and only weighs 465g.

More of the camera’s features are 18 Film Simulation modes, AUTO/SP (Scene Position) mode, high-precision Tracking AF, Eye and Face AF,  and Digital Image Stabilization. Moreover, it supports Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, allowing users to easily send images to smartphones and social networking sites. It can also print images via a compatible Instax printer.

Fujifilm X-T4

The X-T4 is the first X-T series model to feature an in-body image stabilization (IBIS). The X-T4’s in-body image stabilization (IBIS) provides a 5-axis 6.5 stop image stabilization when used with 18 out of 29 XF/XC lenses. It also uses a magnetic force rather than springs to boost functionality. The camera also sports an ultra-fast focal-plane shutter, shooting up to 15fps in burst, and has a shutter release of 0.035 seconds.

Apart from that, the X-T4 also features a back-illuminated 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor, high-speed image processing engine X-Processor 4, 15fps continuous shooting in post view, 8fps continuous shooting in live view, blackout-free burst shooting of 30fps, full HD video recording at 240p, recording 4K videos up to 60fps, up to 10x slow motion, improved tracking AF and face/eye AF, a 2,200mAh NP-W235 battery that allows users to shoot up to 600 photos, and a new film simulation mode called ETERNA Bleach Bypass.

Additionally, the X-T4’s rear touchscreen LCD sports 1.62m dots and can now flip to the side.

Fujifilm X-T200


The X-T200 weighs 370g, can capture images with its high-speed APS-C 24.2MP CMOS sensor, and can record 4K UHD video. The camera features on-sensor phase detection, updated Face/Eye detection AF, 11 digital Film simulation modes, and 20 advanced filters. It also sports a vari-angle widescreen LCD touchscreen with a 3.5inch 16:9 aspect ratio that can open up to 180-degrees and rotate between -90 to +180-degrees. The X-T200 also has an Electronic Stabilization mode and HDR Video modes.

Point-and-shoot/Vlogging

Sony ZV-1

The ZV-1 features the ZEISS Vairo-Sonnar T lens with a maximum focal length of 25.78mm and is powered by the latest BIONZ X image processor. With up to 2.7 optical zoom, the camera can record 4K and Super Slow Motion videos up to 960 fps. It is also equipped with a vari-angle LCD, image stabilization for smoother handheld video recording, and one-push Bokeh and Product Showcase switches for blurring backgrounds.

It ships with a directional 3-capsule mic that minimizes background noise, a standard 35mm mic jack and Multi-Interface Shoe for connecting external microphones, and a windscreen for clearer audio even in crowded places. The ZV-1 can also edit videos in the suggested dimensions for Instagram from the Imaging Edge mobile app.

DJI Osmo Pocket 2

The DJI Pocket 2 can capture high-quality images with its larger 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor that captures photos from 16MP to 64MP  photos with up to 8 times of lossless zoom. It can record HDR videos and 4K videos at 60fps. The handheld camera is also equipped with an optimized Hybrid 2.0 AF to increase speed and accuracy in focusing subjects.

It also offers more with 1080p slow-motion video recording up to 240 fps, AI Editor for editing videos on the fly, ISO 100 to 6400 for regular videos and up to 3200 on slow-motion videos, Pro Mode, Directional Audio for picking up more audio details, Story Mode, live streaming to Facebook, YouTube, or RTMP; ActiveTrack 3.0 for keeping subjects in the frame, Hyperlapse for activating Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) automatically, RAW Format recording, and an optional wind noise reduction.

GoPro Hero 9 Black

The GoPro Hero9 Black sports 5K video recording, 20-megapixel for photos, HyperSmooth 3.0 video stabilization with in-camera horizon leveling, 1.4-inch front color display with live preview and status modes, a 2.27-inch rear touch display with touch zoom, and 30% more battery life.

Apart from that, it features TimeWarp 3.0 for real speed and half speed, 1080p Live Streaming, 1080p Webcam mode, Power Tools, and Super Photo with HDR Night lapse video. It also supports voice control with 14 commands available in 11 languages and 6 accents. Moreover, it is geared with 3 microphones with advanced wind-noise reduction. Instant Film Cameras

Fujifilm Instax Square SQ1

The SQ1 captures 86 x 72mm square photos, bringing out bigger prints and brighter photos. It features auto exposure and a selfie mode that can be operated easily by twisting the lens. It has dimensions of 130.7 mm x 118.6 mm x 57.5 mm and weighs 390g without the batteries, strap, and film. It comes in three color options: Terracotta Orange, Chalk White, and Glacier Blue.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 11

The Mini 11 features an automatic exposure function, optimizing the shutter speed and calculating the surrounding brightness accordingly. It also features a selfie mode that can shoot subjects 30 to 50cm for close-up shots. Additionally, the Mini 11 comes with interchangeable shutter button accessories for users to customize their cameras.
