The ASUS mobile business has been quiet for a while, but now they’re back with a flagship line — the ASUS Zenfone 7 series.
Let’s start right away. The base ASUS Zenfone 7 sports a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor while its bigger brother, the ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro, brags a Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, just like the ROG Phone 3. It goes without saying that they both have 5G connectivity.
ASUS kept the flip camera of the Zenfone 6, which lets you use all three cameras on the back for selfies. With the new model, they added a telephoto lens, improved the durability (100 flips/day for 5 years), and made the motor smaller with 2x torque.
The first camera uses a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor with 2×1 OCL autofocus. The ultra-wide lens has a 12-megapixel Sony IMX 363 sensor, which has autofocus and can record 4K video for the HyperSteady recording mode.
Meanwhile, the new 8-megapixel telephoto lens can do 3x of optical zoom. This camera gets an optical image stabilization (OIS) on the Zenfone 7 Pro.
Both models have 6.67-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panels that peaks at 1,000-nits of brightness, 110% DCI-P3 coverage, 90Hz refresh rate, and 200Hz touch sampling rate. But despite their OLED screens, ASUS opted to use side-mounted fingerprint scanners instead of on-screen ones.
They also share the same 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. They are built with 6000-series aluminum chassis, with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and Gorilla Glass 3 on the back.
The ASUS Zenfone 7 has a price of TWD21,990 (around Php36,300) for the 8GB/128GB, while the ASUS Zenfone 7 Pro with 8GB/256GB config will be at TWD27,990 (around Php46,200). Their global prices will be revealed on September 1.
