Apple has officially announced a new audio product and member of the AirPods family, the AirPods Max, over-ear headphones that boast high-fidelity audio and Active Noise Cancellation.
The Apple AirPods Max features what the company calls a custom acoustic design with breathable knit mesh canopy on the headband to distribute weight and reduce on-head pressure, stainless steel headband frame, telescoping headband arms, and acoustically engineered memory foam to create an effective seal.
For controls, it uses a Digital Crown inspired by the Apple Watch for adjusting the volume, play or pause audio, skip tracks, answer or end phone calls, and activate Siri. The AirPods Max also can automatically detect when they are on a user’s head using the optical and position sensors. Voice calls, on the other hand, are handled by beam-forming microphones that can block out ambient noise and focus on the user’s voice.
For audio, the AirPods Max features a 40mm Apple-designed dynamic driver, dual neodymium rign magnet motor to maintain a total harmonic distortion of less than 1%, Apple-designed H1 chip with 10 audio cores on each ear cup, Adaptive EQ, Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and spatial audio with dynamic head tracking to place sounds virtually anywhere in a space — delivering an immersive, theater-like experience for content recorded in 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby Atmos.
For the battery, the AirPods Max claims up to 20 hours of high-fidelity audio, talk time, or movie playback with Active Noise Cancellation and spatial audio enabled. It also comes with a soft, slim Smart Case that puts AirPods Max in an ultralow power state that helps to preserve battery charge when not in use.
The Apple AirPods Max is officially priced in the Philippines at PHP 32,990, and comes in Space Gray, Silver, Green, Sky Blue, and Pink.
