Updating their tablet series, Huawei just added two new affordable devices to their line: the MatePad T 10s and the cheaper MatePad T10. With the same processor, battery, and cameras, it’s hard not to notice the MatePad T10’s budget price of PHP 6,999. So let’s check out what’s in it on the little tablet brother.
The MatePad T10 is just a thin smaller than the T 10s. It’s got a metal body too, but its short plastic bar near the rear camera has a matte finish on it, unlike the glossy one on the T 10s. I like it, it makes the buttons feel more textured and tangible. Other things you’ll find at the back are its 5MP rear camera and some Huawei branding.
Flipping over to its display, we get a 9.7-inch IPS screen, with a resolution of 1280 × 800px and a pixel density of 156PPI.
The borders are evidently thick, and on the landscape top part are its 2MP front camera together with an LED indicator. So far, the display quality is satisfactory. We get good colors, but they can look dull if you’re used to displays with higher resolution.
For buttons and ports, on the right are its power and volume buttons, as well as two microphones.
There’s nothing on the left, but on top, you’ll find a loudspeaker.
And as for the bottom part, it has another loudspeaker, a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card slot for up to 512GB.
Yup, there’s no SIM slot here.
Under the hood, the MatePad T10 packs the same Kirin 710A processor that can be found on the T 10s. It also has the same Mali G51 GPU but with a trimmed down 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Keeping this tablet running is a 5100mAh capacity with 10W charging. And as for software, it’s running on Android 10 skinned with EMUI 10.1 which solely relies on Huawei Mobile Services and Huawei’s own App Gallery. So yeah, there’s no Google apps and services out-of-the-box here. We’ll discuss more of its performance in our full review soon.
When it comes to price, this 2GB + 32GB variant is available for PHP 6,999. So far, this entry-level tablet offers some pretty reasonable specs to achieve that lower price tag. The necessary features are there, but I do wish they kept the LTE connectivity. Then again, we’ll use it more in the next couple of days, so stay tuned for our full review.
