Following a geopolitical tension that sees two giant nations in a dispute, India has enacted the banning of many popular Chinese apps, including TikTok and WeChat. Now, the country is shunning a hundred or so more and will include prominent apps like AliPay, Baidu, and PUBG Mobile.

In a statement by the country’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the apps that were subject to prohibition were “stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India.”

While the announcement did not explicitly expressed China as the source of concern, it shares a similar tone to a previous statement which comes in light after a heated conflict with its neighboring country, highlighting the need to “safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users.”

With India’s initiative to prevent its citizens from accessing a plethora of mobile applications, it effectively cut off those software’s reach to one of the largest markets in the world.
