Nintendo recently shared an update regarding the unauthorized logins detected on 160,000 Nintendo Network IDs last April 2020.
Based on Nintendo’s website, further investigation shows that 140,000 more accounts have been accessed maliciously. This records a total of 300,000 hacked Nintendo accounts.
Standard security measures such as resetting the password of these Nintendo Network IDs, as well as the linked Nintendo accounts, were made. The company also sent out emails to the customers to inform them of the incident.
Among the information that can be accessed by the hackers on the NNIDs are the following: name, date of birth, country/region, and email address.
Nintendo also recorded that less than 1% of NNIDs around the world may have placed purchases via the Nintendo account.
The Japanese gaming company is still in the process of refunding other customers with unauthorized transactions through the My Nintendo Store or Nintendo eShop.
