The OPPO A92 is set to launch in the Philippines on June 19, 2020. The handset is OPPO’s latest midrange A-series, featuring a large IPS display, a Snapdragon 665 processor, and four rear cameras led by a 48MP sensor.
Let’s start from the outside and make our way in. The OPPO A92 comes in an eye-catching box, to say the least, much like the handset. Our review unit is in the Shining White color way, and its pretty. I like how the color shifts from aquamarine to white. It looks pleasant, like staring at clouds.
Inside the retail box, the OPPO A92 is bundled with a silicone case, an 18W charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM eject tool, a 3.5mm earphones, and the usual documentation. The 18W charger is a huge deal, as it should speed up charging. You have to use it with the supplied cable for it to work.

In the hand, the OPPO A92 has an impressive build quality, despite the plastic materials. It has a clean layout with a shiny back panel that curves at the sides to meet the frame. The sides matches the shifting color of the phone, which is a nice touch.
The OPPO A92 is a large phone, but it’s not unwieldy. Its sloping sides and curves make it easy to hold. It has a 6.5-full HD IPS display with a punch hole cutout on the upper left corner. The earpiece, which is flushed on the top bezel, doubles as a speaker.

The display is surrounded by thin side and top bezels. Its not as narrow as the ones you find on flagships, but its not thick either. You do get a chin, though.
On the left of the phone are the SIM tray and volume rocker. The power button/fingerprint scanner is on the right. Both keys sit in convenient spots just above the center of the frame, easily reached by either the index finger or thumb.
At the bottom is where you’ll find the 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, the USB Type-C port, and the speaker.
The power button/fingerprint scanner is thinner than what I would prefer. But the smaller surface area didn’t hinder its performance. Its fast and accurate. You also get face unlock, if that’s what you prefer. Like most people, I use both.

Next stop, we move on to the back, where we have one of the OPPO A92’s highlight features — the quad cameras. There are four sensors and the LED flash arranged in rectangular layout on the upper left corner of the back.
It has a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 2MP depth, and another 2MP macro. The set should be able to cover most shooting scenarios, while providing additional options for creativity.
Inside, the OPPO A92 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, and ColorOS 7.1. At first glance, it hums along fine. Basic navigation is smooth and responsive.
The phone also packs a large 5,000mAh battery. It should be enough to get you through a whole work day with moderate to heavy usage. Plus the 18W fast charger should give you a full charge in a short amount of time.
Well, that’s it for our unboxing and initial impressions of the OPPO A92. Stay tuned in the next days for the full review to find out if it is worth our attention, time, and money.
