Design

The Realme X3 SuperZoom’s Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in front and back means that it’s tougher than the Galaxy A71, which only has a Gorilla Glass 3 front and plastic back. The anti-fingerprint treatment is also a nice touch to keep it clean all the time.

On the other hand, a lot of people would surely appreciate the sleek body of the A71. As you can see, it’s only 7.7mm thin, while the competition is 9.7mm. It’s also noticeably lighter at 179g, vs 204g.

We’ve held both devices in the flesh, and we can say that the Galaxy A71 is more pocketable and comfortable to hold for long periods at a time. We have a full review of this device that you can check out.

Samsung’s bet is also available in more color variants than Realme’s, giving you more options to choose from.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy a71 boasts a large 6.7-inch screen and a more vibrant and contrast-y Super AMOLED panel. This is great for watching movies and videos. Plus, the OLED panel means that it gets to have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

But if speed is what you’re after, the Realme X3 SuperZoom’s best feature is its 120Hz refresh rate. For a perspective, the usual refresh rate found on a phone like the Galaxy A71 is only at 60Hz.

This makes select games, movies, and the interface in general feel a whole lot smoother and faster. There’s a part in our hands-on video (see above) where we demonstrate the difference between 120Hz and 60Hz.

Performance

We know it’s obvious from the beginning that the Realme X3 SuperZoom dominates this specs comparison. Primarily because of its flagship processor.

This device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor. It may not be the current best, but it’s definitely better than the Snapdragon 730G of the competition.

If that’s not enough, Realme also rigged it with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Galaxy A71 only has an 8GB/128GB configuration. But, it’s worth mentioning that the X3 SuperZoom lacks a microSD card slot, while the Galaxy A71 is giving you an option to expand the storage later.

Camera

As the name suggests, the best feature of the Realme X3 SuperZoom is its cameras. It boasts an 8-megapixel periscope camera that we only saw on expensive flagships like the Huawei P40 Pro, making it the cheapest device to have this feature.

It also has a 64-megapixel main and 32-megapixel selfie cameras, which it shares with the Galaxy A71. However, Realme went the extra mile by including a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the front for group shots.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A71 tries to win the last round with its large 4,500mAh battery. And since it only has a regular 60Hz refresh rate, expect longer battery life out of this.

However, the Realme X3 SuperZoom do give you an option to have it intelligently switch back to 60Hz, but what’s the point of having a 120Hz panel?

Moving on, Realme makes up for the smaller battery by having a faster 30W Dart charger, while the Galaxy A71 only has a 25W charger.

Conclusion

The winner here is really obvious. The Realme X3 SuperZoom sports a flagship processor, a smooth 120Hz screen, and flexible cameras. Which made it easily win this comparison. You can read our unboxing hands-on review for more details.

What’s more, the price premium is very much reasonable. The Galaxy A71 costs Php22,990. But for Php2,000 more, you can get all the high-end features of the Realme X3 SuperZoom for only Php24,990.
