Game publisher Riot Games’ Southeast Asia division and the Youth Esports Program (YEP) of the Philippines have joined forces to help develop student talents in the country.

YEP, an initiative by Mineski Philippines and Philippines Collegiate Champions League (PCCL), was formed to improve the Esports community in the Philippines through its member schools and organizations.

With the help of Riot Games, they can expand the programs they’re offering through workshops, activities, and other student initiatives.

Riot Games will lend the talent of its speakers to provide workshops and career talks for students who are serious about esports.

Also part of these activities are Legends of Runeterra tournaments and Valorant content contests.

As per Chris Tran, head of esports at Riot games SEA, the company was always impressed by the passion and talent of the local esports community, that’s why they are partnering with YEP in further nurturing the future generations of esports players.

The partnership will also secure Valorant a spot in the upcoming cross-campus esports league.

Marlon “Lon” Marcelo, YEP director, added that the initiative and Riot Games are aligned in their goals in raising sports to the same level of traditional varsity sports in schools. You can visit YEP’s Facebook page for more details.
