Remember the times when having three or 4GB of RAM in smartphones were already more than enough? Then as time goes by, the RAM capacity just keeps increasing, and never did we imagine we’re getting smartphones now that is powered with a whopping 12GB RAM. So if you’re interested in buying one or you’re just curious about what’s available in the country, then you came to the right place.

Note: The smartphones listed below are those that were announced or launched in the Philippines in 2020.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has to prove a lot to justify its ultra-high price tag of PHP69,990 for the 12GB + 128GB variant. For PHP14,000 more than the S20+, you’re essentially getting a bigger 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED screen, bigger 5,000mAh battery, faster charging, a new set of cameras, and the vague possibility of 5G (here in the Philippines at least).

OnePlus Nord

The OnePlus Nord is perhaps one of the cheapest 12GB RAM smartphones you can buy right now. For PHP 25,990 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, you’re getting a 6.44-inch Full HD+ 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, great quad-rear cameras, and a 4,115mAh battery with 30W warp charge.

Realme X3 SuperZoom

The Realme X3 SuperZoom features powerful dual-front and quad-rear cameras with a 60x SuperZoom periscope lens, 256GB of internal storage, and a 120Hz FHD+ display. Although it is equipped with a Snapdragon 855+ chipset, it does not support 5G connectivity. It also has a built-in Liquid Cooling System for controlling the processor’s temperature, supports 30W wired fast charging, and a Dolby Atmos-powered speakers. It is also the cheapest one from this list and is priced at PHP 24,990.

Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro



Both 5G-ready smartphones have a 90HZ AMOLED display, a 270Hz touch-sampling rate, Snapdragon 865 chipset, triple-rear cameras, and an 18W magnetic charging plug. However, the Black Shark 3 Pro has a massive display with a higher QHD+ resolution, one storage option, physical pop-up shoulder buttons, and a bigger battery. Its smaller sibling, the BlackShark 3, comes with a smaller screen in a lower FHD+ resolution, a smaller battery, two storage configurations, and capacitive shoulder buttons.

Prices are as follows:

• Black Shark 3 (12GB + 256GB) –  PHP 34, 995
• Black Shark 3 Pro (12GB + 256 GB) – PHP 44, 990

ASUS ROG Phone 3

Powered with Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G, the ROG Phone 3 is mated with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1. It sports a 6.59-inch, 144Hz AMOLED display with 10-bit color, DCI-P3, and HDR10+ support.

Among its upgrade includes 5G connectivity, WiFi 6, motion sensor in the AirTrigger 3 system, adjustment of multiple system parameters on the X Mode software, dedicated Game Mode, redesigned GameCool 3 cooling system, and Snapdragon Elite Gaming for the seamless HDR gaming experience. It retains some elements from its predecessor, like the side-mounted charging port and 6000 mAh battery. It is priced at PHP 49,995.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 features two edge-to-edge, nearly bezel-less Infinity-O Displays with a 7.6-inch main screen, a 6.2-inch cover screen, and a 120Hz refresh rate. For photography, it sports triple rear cameras. As for the chipset, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 Plus.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 will be available in the Philippines in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze on September 25, 2020, for select Samsung Online Partners and October 2, 2020, for select Authorized Samsung Stores, with pre-orders from September 12 to 24, 2020. It is priced at PHP 109,990.
