After tons of hype and secrecy, Sony has finally made the PlayStation 5 official. And it’s not just one, but two versions. The first is a regular model with an optical drive while the other one is a Digital Edition where you can only download games.
Design-wise, the new PlayStation 5 has a modern and vertical design with white panels on each side covering the black interior. The center has USB-C and standard USB-A ports together with the blue LED lighting and vents on the top of the curve. The console’s back is yet to be seen for now.
The PS5 has a vertical stand, like previous PlayStation releases since the PS2. But whether it’s included out of the box or a separate purchase, we still don’t know.

Since the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition don’t have an optical drive, it lacks the 4K UHD Blu-ray branding. It’s also thinner more symmetric in design compared to the standard PS5 which is a bit bulkier.
Overall, the design is pretty futuristic and nothing short of impressive when put side-by-side with previous concepts and renders. The PS5 unit itself and DualSense controller also complements each other’s design very well.
When compared to the Xbox Series X’s minimal design, the PlayStation 5 definitely look way cooler.
Aside from the actual consoles, Sony also unveiled accessories for the PS5. Apart from the DualSense controller that comes with a built-in microphone and haptic feedback, a charging station will also be available. A Pulse 3D wireless headset, HD camera, and media remote can also be purchased.
Sony showed a lot of new games including the Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales, NBA 2K21, Hitman III, Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil Village, and more. On the 2nd half of 2021, Rockstar is scheduled to release GTA for the PlayStation 5.
The pricing and release date of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are currently known.
