In an attempt to lure students who are starting online school this year, a new budget smartphone from Xiaomi is coming in the Philippines.
In a Facebook post, Xiaomi Philippines announced that they will be bringing the Redmi 9C in the Philippines on August 17, 2020.
Initially released back in July, the Redmi 9C offers an entry-level set of specs. It’s powered by a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor. The initial model we saw came with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, we might see higher configurations if we’re lucky.
It also has a large 5,000mAh battery, a 6.53-inch HD+ dot display with a 1600 x 720 pixel resolution, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. We don’t have a fingerprint scanner on the back, but we do have three cameras. There’s the 13-megapixel main shooter, 5-megapixel macro, and 2-megapixel depth sensor.

We’ll have its official price once it’s announced in the coming days. But with its more premium specs, we expect the Xiaomi Redmi 9C to be more expensive than the Redmi 9A which is available in the country for Php4,690.
