GInvest is the investment marketplace feature of the GCash app. This service allows users to invest in various investment funds from GCash’s partner product providers. Back in March 2021, new funds on GInvest have been made available to GCash users. But what it really is? And, what are the things that we need to know about it? Let’s learn more of it!

What is GInvest?

GInvest is GCash’s ‘Invest Money’ investment marketplace feature. With this, GCash users can invest their wallet balance into investment funds from partnered providers for as low as PHP 50.

According to GCash, investment funds are pools of money from various investors who agree to invest collectively by entrusting their money to a professional fund manager, who invests the money in different financial instruments such as stocks and bonds.

GInvest is powered by partnerships with Seedbox Philippines and ATRAM. ATRAM Trust provides and manages the funds available in GCash Invest Money.

As per GCash, investing on GCash has 0 fees. There are no fees to be charged from investments everytime users transact. There are also no minimum holding periods.

What is ATRAM?

ATRAM Trust Corporation (ATRAM Trust) is dubbed as the first stand-alone trust corporation in the Philippines. It has received its license to operate in October 2016 from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Who are eligible for an investment account?

GCash users eligible for GInvest must meet the following requirements:

• Aged 18 y/o and above
• Fully Verified (KYC)
• Not tagged as a Power Pay Plus account (payroll)

How to apply for a GInvest account?

Check out the step-by-step guide on how to apply for a GInvest account.

1. Log in to your Gcash account
2. Tap GInvest on the dashboard (if it’s not on the dashboard, you can find it in the ‘show more’ section under Financial Services.)

3. Tap ‘Proceed’ to start the registration process.
4. Choose your answer by tapping on the option.

5. Indicate if you are a U.S. Person, then read and tap the checkbox if you agree to the terms and conditions.

8. If you agree, a confirmation page will be displayed with your risk profile assessment result. And you’re done with the registration!
9. You will then receive an email and a text message confirming your GInvest registration.

Risk Profile

Investing in financial markets always comes with some level of risk. Risk Profile or Risk Appetite is the level of risk a person is willing to accept in investing. GCash mentioned that this is derived from the users’ answers in the Risk Profile Questionnaire. Each fund also has its own Risk Rating. These are guides for investors in choosing funds that match their financial goals and needs.

Users can still invest in funds that have a more aggressive Risk Rating than their Risk Profile/Appetite after you click “Proceed” as a means to agree to the fund waiver. The waiver prompt, however, will appear on the first time investing in a more aggressive investment.

As of now, there is no option to change your Risk Appetite. Meanwhile, GCash may prompt you to retake the Risk Profile Questionnaire to update records.

GCash noted that when it comes to investing in financial markets, returns are not guaranteed. The market value of investments can also decrease depending on market performance. Thus, the funds are not deposits and are not insured by the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC).

Net Asset Value per Unit (NAVPU)

The Net Asset Value Per Unit or NAVPU is identified as the unit price of a fund. GCash explained that the product provider computes it by dividing the fund’s overall value by the total number of units the fund has. According to GCash, NAVPU may increase or decrease daily, depending on the fund’s performance in the market.

GInvest Funds

Currently, there are five investment funds available in GInvest.

• ATRAM Peso Money Market Fund – A Philippine-based fixed-income fund
• ATRAM Total Return Peso Bond Fund – Composed of a variety of Philippine government and corporation bonds
• ATRAM Philippine Equity Smart Index Fund – Invests only in 30 companies composed of the PSEi index
